We will work with you and your physician to help choose a CPAP system to meet your need and your lifestyle. CPAP provides one continuous level of pressure which keeps the patient’s airway open. If you are still having apnea, or partial airway closings when breathing in, a higher pressure may be needed to make sure that the airway stays open. However, not all patients can tolerate this pressure when breathing in and breathing out. These patients may need a lower pressure when they breathe out to make therapy more comfortable. A Bi-Level machine will give two different levels of pressure: one level when you breathe in and a lower pressure level when you breathe out.
